Business Process Analysis
iServer Data Exchange - Import and Export Interfaces

Organizations conducting process analysis rarely start from a
clean slate; processes, process descriptions, organisational
models, role details often already exist within the business.
Additionally, information used in the development of the process
models or information about the activities within a process
(metrics etc.) is held in other systems (financial tools, asset
registers, Excel spreadsheets).
A BPA tool must have the ability to seamlessly transfer
information between these different data sources so organizations
can use this information to 'fast-track' the creation of processes,
synchronise process data (update ), or to enrich the model content.
iServer Data Exchange is an import and synchronization interface,
enabling import of data from either Excel or XML using the
intuitive iServer Data Exchange Import Wizard.
Common Reasons for Looking at iServer Data Exchange
Data Exchange is necessary for most process-focused
customers. Invariably, processes and process data already
exists within the business. Lists of activites or roles and
information about the components are often stored or mastered in
other systems and are essential in delivering complete and accurate
process content. Information is often held in other Business
Process tools - either a complementary tool or where a tool is not
longer in use. With Data Exchange it makes sense to reuse or make
use of any existing, relevant content and, more importantly, any
data which is regularly maintained.
Benefits of iServer Data Exchange
Reusing existing data is not only sensible, but also ensures
processes information is familiar to the business. Process Teams
can also use Data Exchange, to assure the integrity of process
content, leverage any previous investment in process tools and
fast-track the creation of new content, helping to save valuable
time and money critical in any process project.
User resistance can also be minimized by allowing process owners
to continue to editing content in Excel with Data Exchange managing
the scheduled import back into the Process Repository.
