Overview

Create integrated websites to showcase process content

Publisher allows you to create interactive websites to make any aspect of your process maps accessible to different groups of stakeholders online. It generates a static snapshot of either all or part of your repository, and it can produce a time-based view (baseline) of your process content - daily, weekly, monthly etc. The ability to provide a picture-based entry point to the Publication ensures navigation through your process content is quick and easy, with instructions and guidance notes available to help users understand process context, the modeling notation used, or even how the site works.

Quick access to process mapping deliverables

Business analysts and process owners can navigate and browse through the process information to see dependencies between different business areas or to access key deliverables such as business rules or concentrate on issues and concerns and possible areas for improvement.

Common reasons for looking at iServer Publisher

Publishing or sharing process information is essential in any organization if they are looking to standardize, optimize or clarify what it is they do. Publisher is also useful when content needs to be sent to customers, suppliers or any other 3rd party, as it can be packaged and sent outside the business. Additionally, as a copy of the Office and Visio documents and models are created within the Publication, end users can gain access to the files for local modification - useful in consultancy or service businesses where standard processes need to be customized for specific customers.

Using process information as part of the day job

Regular business users may be using the process Publication just to help them perform their day job more effectively - understanding how to perform a particular activity, reviewing the activities associated with a particular role, looking for notes on policies or continuity plans relevant to a specific process. Feedback and comments can be gathered from business users via the Publication to incorporate into the next iteration of the processes generated by the team.

Make existing business processes visible

Existing MS Visio and Office process models and documents can be published as soon as the iServer repository is in place. There is no need to wait until content has been rationalized, so common with other process tools! By making content, even old content, visible the process team can engage the business and start to show immediate value.

iServer Publisher capabilities

Users can determine which processes are published by selecting all some or all areas of the Repository or by using a meta-data value such as 'approval status' or 'ready for publication'. These settings are saved so that a simple 'refresh' can generate a new process baseline containing any new or modified content. Additionally, a series of options allows the user to control what information is included, the dependencies shown, the format and the look and feel of the publication as well as the reports provided. Publisher capabilities include the following:

  • Generate integrated HTML websites to publish and share with business users
  • Create a picture-based entry pages to make the EA content more attractive and easier to use
  • Use extensive search facilities help business users find the content they need
  • Allows business users to generate reports of Enterprise Architecture content for use in meetings or day to day work
