EA Case Study - 34
This organization is an international weather service. It is one of only two World Area Forecast Centres, or WAFCs, that provide the data used to route aircraft safely worldwide.

The Business Challenge
As a global information and research facility with global security responsibilities, the organization needed to manage a military-grade IT infrastructure while constantly adapting to the challenges posed by it’s highly visible role.
The Solution
The iServer repository was used as the core storage point for artifacts and customized TOGAF® 9 templates were used to document the current estate. Each domain could then be managed by different sets of architects, who could share and reuse architecture components quickly and easily. This allowed the organization to approach their Enterprise Architecture with consistency and structure.
Why iServer?
The Met Office has estimated that iServer’s TOGAF® out-of-the-box solution saved 3 months of implementation time. Visio and Office were already used in the organization, so being able to leverage their existing content greatly helped to speed up their work.
