Application Portfolio Management
A common activity within enterprise IT departments nowadays is
Application Portfolio Management - actively tracking each
application, assessing if the value it brings justifies the cost,
and attempting to rationalize the stock of applications as a
result. Commonly, this is done by scoring the applications based on
factors such as business fit and technical fit and then
cross-checking these scores against application cost to locate
candidates for replacement.
Orbus has created a highly functional set of templates, aligned
with their TOGAF "Out-of-the-box" solution. An application scoring
template allows you to create maps of applications showing the
score, while a bubble chart template provides a multidimensional
view of the status of each application.
Taking this functionality together with the ability to visualize
applications differently on different diagrams according to their
interactions, their deployment environment or on Orbus' landscape
timelining solution (Q.V.), iServer provides application portfolio
managers with an invaluable way to keep a handle on application
costs and roadmaps.
