Capabilities
Live browser access to the repository
Portal provides browser access to the live iServer repository allowing users to see the most up-to-date versions of models and documentation (EA artifacts and deliverables, process models, network models & corporate deliverables) without the need to publish a new baseline
Issues & issue notification online
Portal offers a facility for browser users to contribute to document and object change management via the browser interface. Users can raise improvement suggestions, change requests and assign tasks to other users for action, sign-off or resolution
Stakeholder view-based access
Visibility of EA information to browser users is controlled by iServer profiles, facilitating the creation of custom views for different stakeholder audiences.
Navigation directly to document & model components
Embedded links within the EA content allow browser users to jump straight from one architecture building block to another or to the relevant document paragraph ensuring the user is able navigate seamlessly through a 'thread' of content.
Option to download portal content
Download a model or document to pass to other interested parties either inside or outside the business. Such interested parties may include suppliers, customers, auditors and partners
Printing models & documents online
Print copies of useful models and documents directly from Portal for use in meetings or for further distribution to others around the business
Powerful multi-filter search
Advanced searching capabilities allow complex search terms to be built with combined filtering of custom attribute values and the ability to search in groups. A new interface improves the user experience and overall look and feel of the search function. The search tool can also be used to analyze and report on enterprise architecture information from within the browser
Generate high-quality deliverables for use in enterprise architecture projects or day-to-day work by running reports created by your iServer Administrator. Reports could include essential EA deliverables such as architecture roadmaps; gap analysis and architecture building block documentation.
Easy-to-use, intuitive navigation & viewing environment
New technologies such as XPS, XAML and Silverlight provide more intuitive and efficient ways for users to browse through the repository contents online. The browser is based on the familiar MS Explorer view of the iServer repository to locate relevant content, or use the Search window and use Pan & Zoom facilities to move quickly and easily around model and document content.
Choice of portal entry page
Get faster access to your enterprise architecture content by specifying a favorite starting point, whether you regularly start from a diagram, navigate through folders, look for issues or begin by searching for information.
Active Directory integration
As the volume of Portal users is likely to be high, Portal can automatically provision users from their Windows login information ensuring user administration time is kept to a minimum and users are active as quickly as possible.
Highly brandable
Browser users can enjoy a more streamlined user experience because Portal can be aligned to an organisation’s intranet standards. Branded entry points such as the customer definable splash screen mean business users can move seamlessly from other intranet locations into Portal. As a result the perception of portal is less “third party product” and more "our process repository".
Content and facilities tailored to Stakeholders profiles
iServer content providers have the capability to embed models in documents or wiki pages, which can then be viewed by Portal users. Not only does this make the browser user experience more seamless, but also reduces the time spent maintaining content because documents or web-pages are dynamically kept up to date with the latest version of any diagram.
