Overview
Create integrated web pages to showcase enterprise architecture
content
Publisher allows you to create
interactive websites to make any aspect of your enterprise
architecture accessible to different groups of stakeholders online.
It generates a static snapshot of either all or part of your
repository, and it can produce a time-based view (baseline) of your
EA content - daily, weekly, monthly etc. The ability to provide a
picture-based entry point to the Publication ensures navigation
through your EA content is quick and easy, with instructions and
guidance notes available to help users understand EA context, the
modeling notation used, or even how the site works.
Quick access to EA deliverables
Architecture users can jump around the Architecture information
to see dependencies between different EA domains or to access key
deliverables such as Architecture Vision documents, Architecture
Work Statements or various Architecture Principles documents.
Common reasons for looking at iServer Publisher
Publishing or sharing enterprise architecture is essential in
any organization. The Publisher product is particularly useful in
an enterprise architecture initiative where content is highly
regulated and managed as a governed baseline. It is also beneficial
when content needs to be sent to customers, suppliers or any other
3rd party. Additionally, as a copy of the Office and Visio
documents and models are created within the Publication, end users
can gain access to the files for local modification - useful in
consultancy or service businesses.
Make existing enterprise architecture work visible
Existing Visio and Office EA work can be published as soon as
the iServer Repository is in
place. There is no need to wait until content has been
rationalized, so common with other EA tools! By making both legacy
and current content visible the EA practice can show immediate
value.
Use EA information as part of the day job
Regular business users may be using the enterprise architecture
Publication just to help them perform their day job more
effectively - looking up the process for a particular activity,
reviewing the maintenance statistics or service agreement
information for a technology or an application. Feedback and
comments can be gathered from business users via the Publication to
incorporate into the next iteration of the enterprise
architecture.
iServer Publisher capabilities
Users can determine the EA content published by selecting all
some or all areas of the Architecture Repository or by
using a meta-data value such as 'approval status' or 'ready for
publication'. These settings are saved so that a simple 'refresh'
can generate a new baseline containing any new or modified content.
Additionally, a series of options allows the user to control what
information is included, the dependencies shown, the format and the
look and feel of the Publication as well as the reports provided.
Publisher capabilities include the following:
- Generate integrated HTML websites to publish and share with
business users
- Create image-based entry pages to make EA content more
attractive and easier to use
- Use extensive search facilities to help business users find the
content they need
- Allow business users to generate reports of enterprise
architecture content for use in meetings or day to day work
- Collect feedback online from business users to keep content
relevant
