iServer SAP Connect provides a bi-directional interface, enabling both the import and export of SAP business process models (Blueprint Projects) between the iServer Repository and SolMan. This provides organizations with the ability to maintain a ‘live’ representation of SAP processes within SolMan, which can be synchronized directly from iServer.
By allowing users to import SAP Business Blueprints and projects directly into the iServer repository, the module greatly facilitates analysis and reporting. This synchronization makes it possible to link SAP landscapes with their Enterprise and Solution Architecture, Enterprise Value Chain and IT Governance content, which may already be captured in the repository.
iServer SAP Connect also provides the option to automatically generate industry standard BPMN 2.0 business process diagrams from the imported SAP SolMan content. All iServer process diagrams are Visio-based, making them easy to update and maintain. As part of the iServer SAP Blueprint database, users are provided with a standard set of BPMN 2.0 process diagram templates, as well as access to iServer BPMN 2.0 diagram validation.
Business Blueprints defined in SolMan can be imported into the iServer repository. These blueprints may be those already created by the organization, or may be ‘template’ processes which SAP provide out of the box with each purchased SAP module.
For each process, SAP Solution Manager can also generate a simple process diagram containing the assigned process steps with relationships to transactions and higher level processes. As SolMan does not explicitly define the concept of process flow, the diagrams are drawn with sequence flow inferred from the order of steps in the process, so as to provide a starting point for subsequent clarification and customization of the processes within iServer.
In addition, if processes are subsequently modified in SolMan it is possible to re-import a project into iServer. This may either be a fresh import to a new library, or an update to the previously imported processes.
Once SAP Solution Manager content has been imported, iServer automatically creates BPMN 2.0 compliant Visio Diagrams for each SAP Business Process.
iServer can also automatically create a high-level Scenario and Business Process Visio Diagrams using iServer’s SAP Scenario template for the project downloaded from SolMan. This is then populated with all the Scenario and Business Process objects in the SAP Project.
Process flows and hierarchies defined in the iServer repository can be exported to SolMan in order to define the Business Blueprint in SAP, using the same types and relationship structure as listed above.
Documentation can also be added to processes in SolMan enabling users to directly view process diagrams (via iServer Portal).
