How to manage folder permissions?

  • These steps should be performed by a system administrator or anyone with Profile Management Administration rights
  • These permissions are assigned to profiles, so please make sure users are assigned to the correct profiles first
  • Log in to iServer with the System Administrators profile or a profile allowing the administration of permissions

A. Allow users to view/modify the content in a folder

Steps to follow:

  1. Go to the Repository folder structure and select the folder in question
  2. Right-click on the folder > Edit Permissions
  3. Select the rights you want to give to each profile
  4. Click “Apply and Save”, (or “Apply and Cascade” if you want the rights to be reflected in the sub-folders as well)

    6. If cascading, select the profiles you want the settings to apply to

In order for a user to be able to access the target folder, they would need to have access to the parent folder as well (give rights to the profile in question accordingly > “Apply and Save”) and to the library the folder belongs to.

B. Allow users to create content in a folder

Steps to follow:

  1. Select the library the folder belongs to
  2. Right-click on the library > Edit Permissions
  3. Select “Modify Contents” permissions
  4. Click “Apply and Save”
  5. Select the profiles you want the settings to apply to
  • Folder permissions override library permissions
