Agile Business Analyst (AgileBA®) Foundation & Practitioner

This course covers the syllabuses for both AgileBA Foundation and AgileBA Practitioner. It prepares students to sit and pass their exams on the first attempt while also demonstrating how to apply their training in practice.

An Introduction to this AgileBA Foundation Course

Learning Objectives

Foundation Module 2: Agile Fundamental Concepts: DSDM Principles & Roles

Learning Objectives

This module addresses the philosophy of the DSDM, along with Agile’s approach to project variables. The module discusses how DSDM processes can be configured and scaled before moving on to the eight DSDM principles, the team model, and how the various roles in DSDM work together.

Foundation Module 3: Agile Fundamental Concepts: DSDM Management Products

Learning Objectives

This module looks at the management products associated with each phase of the DSDM, as well as the purposes they serve. It then examines the role of an Agile business analyst within an Agile project.

Foundation Module 4: The Agile Business Case

Learning Objectives

This module examines the ‘Agile business case’, including its purpose, connection to business strategy, and typical contents. Agile roles and responsibilities are discussed in relation to the business case, and students are taught several best practices that can be leveraged to create one.

Foundation Module 5: Stakeholders in the Agile Project

Learning Objectives

This module looks at what a stakeholder is, how to engage with them, and what purpose they serve in Agile project environments. Students learn good practices for stakeholder communication, enabling them to keep both project teams and executives on the same page. The module also examines the impact of stakeholder engagement on project outcomes.

Foundation Module 6: Agile Practices: Facilitated Workshops

Learning Objectives

This module examines facilitated workshops and how they can improve collaboration, communication, and efficiency in Agile projects. The module also lays out several common workshop types and explains how AgileBA is involved in their use throughout a DSDM project.

Foundation Module 7: Agile Practices Modeling

Learning Objectives

This module explores the Agile practices of modeling and prototyping, including what makes them useful and what kind of target audiences they have. It also examines different modeling types and how they each relate to the principles of the DSDM.

Foundation Module 8: Prioritization

Learning Objectives

This module looks at the role of prioritization in Agile projects. It examines various techniques, including the Kano model and MoSCoW Prioritization. Finally, it lays out how prioritization contributes to the success of Agile projects.

Foundation Module 9: Agile Practices: Timeboxes & Iterative Development

This module explains the purpose of timeboxes and iterative development. It looks at how Agile business analysts utilize these tools for software development, testing, and more.

Foundation Module 10: Requirements Introduction

The next two modules introduce students to requirements, how to plan them, and how to estimate them. This module begins by going through several definitions before dissecting how requirements activities are applied throughout the DSDM project lifecycle. It also introduces user stories, along with the PRL and the INVEST model.

Foundation Module 11: Requirements Planning & Estimating

Practice Exam Simulators

The module features two practice papers for the AgileBA Practitioner examination. One is provided by APMG, while the other comes from the Good e-Learning team. Students are encouraged to fully familiarise themselves with the course modules before attempting the practice exams.

This course comes with FREE vouchers that can be used to take the official AgileBA Foundation and Practitioner certification exams. The exams can be taken online via a service provided by ProctorU. Learners can contact the Orbus support team to request vouchers.

To sit the Agile Business Analyst (AgileBA) Practitioner certification exam, a student must first pass the Foundation-level exam.

Exam format:

AgileBA Foundation:

• This is a multiple-choice exam consisting of 50 questions
• There is a time limit of 40 minutes to complete the exam
• The exam is closed book, with only the provided materials being permitted for use
• The pass mark for the exam is 50%: you must get 25 out of 50 questions correct

AgileBA Practitioner:

• This is a complex multiple-choice exam
• There are four questions per paper
• Each question offers 20 marks
• To pass, candidates must score at least 50% (40 marks out of 80)
• The exam lasts 2.5 hours (150 minutes)
• The exam is open-book (AgileBA Handbook only)
