About the Course
The course is aimed at professionals who support an organization’s IT Service Delivery processes. Learners will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the theory and practices covered across the ITIL Foundation, Service Lifecycle, and Capability modules. They will learn how to combine the modules into a single Service Management practice in order to deliver consistent business value.
Industry experts with years of experience in consultancy and training have developed the course. It is accredited by PeopleCert, which is licensed by AXELOS as an examination institute for ITIL certification courses.
This course truly puts learners on track for a career based on deeply-held ITIL expertise. On passing the certification exam, professionals will be awarded the ‘ITIL Expert’ certificate.
Candidates who reach the level of ITIL Expert will also satisfy the entry criteria for the ITIL Master certification. ITIL Master is the highest certification level within the ITIL v3 scheme.
Course Outline
Module 1: Key Concepts of the Service Lifecycle
This module takes a strategic and managerial view of the ITIL Service Lifecycle. Learners will approach the rest of the course with an overview of the ITIL framework firmly in mind.
Module 2: Communication and Stakeholder Management
This module focuses on ensuring effective communication across all stages of the Service Lifecycle. It also explores the importance of Relationship Management with business and supplier stakeholders.
Module 3: Integrating Service Management Processes Across the Service Lifecycle
This module examines the impact of Service Strategy on other Lifecycle stages. It also explains how to carry out Service Design with a focus on the Lifecycle. The integration of the inputs and outputs of the Service Management process is also explored.
Module 4: Managing Services Across the Lifecycle
This module looks at Service Management with a view to managing Services and Service Components throughout the Lifecycle. Learners will explore how to capture the needs of customers and stakeholders and measure whether those needs are being met. There will also be an examination of the associated risks, conflicts, challenges, and Critical Success Factors.
Module 5: Governance, Roles, People, Competence and the Organization
This module looks at the people involved in the Lifecycle stages in terms of roles, structure, skills, and governance. It also examines the different types of Service Providers and how to assess which is most appropriate.
Module 6: Measurement
This module explores the options for effectively monitoring the performance of IT Services and Service Management activities.
Module 7: Implementing and Improving Service Management Capability
This module looks at the need for assessment and improvement within a Service Management practice. It also examines the requirements for a successful implementation of Service Management and the associated technologies.
Module 8: Exam Preparation
This module describes the format and structure of the MALC exam and gives guidance on preparing for and passing the exam.
Assessment
- A complex multiple-choice exam with ten scenario-based questions
- 120 minutes (additional time will be available if English is not your first language)
- The pass mark is 70% or 35/40
- Closed-book
- Earn five credits on successfully passing, to go towards the ITIL Expert certification
