About the Course

‘Service Transition’ is about introducing, transferring, decommissioning, or discontinuing services. This online training course provides insight into the purposes, principles, and processes involved in the Service Transition stage of the IT Service Lifecycle. The course guides individuals through techniques to organize and manage service transitions.

Technology, risks, and challenges are also considered. This includes the effective management of complex changes associated with services and service management processes.

The course is fully accredited by PeopleCert and licensed by AXELOS. On passing the certification exam, professionals will earn three ITIL credits, which can go towards the 17 required to take the ITIL Managing Across the Lifecycle (MALC) exam. Passing this will also help students to achieve the ITIL Expert qualification.

Module 1: Introduction to Service Transition
This module introduces the core concepts of Service Transition. It examines the purpose, objectives, and scope of Service Transition, and looks at its relationship with the other ITIL Lifecycle stages:

Module 2: Service Transition Principles
This module asks learners to understand, analyze, and interpret the key principles, techniques, and relationships involved in Service Transition. The content also covers how to apply the principles of Service Transition to meet business requirements. Finally, the module addresses how to optimize performance and measure success.

Module 3: Service Transition Processes
This module explores Service Transition from a managerial perspective. It looks at the supervisory considerations of each process in turn. Learners will be invited to understand, oversee, and judge each process.

Module 4: Managing People through Service Transition
This module explores the management of communications and stakeholders in Service Transition. It includes an exploration of organizational change.

Module 5: Organizing for Service Transition

This module explores the role of technology in the Service Transition phase. Learners examine the technology design considerations for the phase and how to maximize their benefits. Knowledge, Collaboration, and Configuration Management are covered in this module.

Module 7: Implementation and Improvement of Service Transition
This module explores the challenges within the implementation of Service Transition and how to make improvements. The key activities of introducing the Service Transition phase are then examined. Advice is also given on taking an integrated approach to following key processes, as well as the considerations for operating in a cloud environment.

Module 8: Challenges, Critical Success Factors and risks
This module prompts learners to consider the risks and challenges within the Service Transition phase. There is also an exploration of the Critical Success Factors and other external factors that impact Service Transition.

Module 9: Exam Preparation
This module provides a summary of the key learning points covered in the previous modules to prepare learners for the ITIL Service Transition exam.

  • A complex multiple-choice exam with eight scenario-based questions
