Closer to our Customers: Orbus Software attend IRM UK's Business Analysis Conference 2015

2015-09-29-irm-event

Saad is based at Orbus Software’s London Headquarters. Joining as a Business Consultant, he has recently transitioned into a Business Development role, managing the Africa and Middle-East regions. Saad has worked on countless projects for industry leading organizations in both the EA and BPA domain. Here he shares his account of Orbus’ recent attendance of IRM UK’s Business Analysis Conference Europe 2015 where he led his perspective session ‘Achieving Business Analysis Maturity: A Repository-led Approach’.

Orbus Software is known for two things, revolutionary business solutions, and a complimentary knowledge base on our website. One of the biggest drivers for the success of both has been the feedback and suggestions of our customers and users. With this in mind, in Q3 2015 we created a new initiative that would allow us to meet more-and-more people all around the world, and assist them with their learning and development, programs and projects, whilst giving us the chance to capture their valuable thoughts, and ideas on how we can improve.

I kicked-off this initiative by attending the IRM Business Analysis Conference Europe in London last week. Our goal at the two-day conference was to meet as many people as we could, and to answer as many questions as we could. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed early on Tuesday 22nd September, the Orbus Squad met at London HQ to pick up our gear and marched to the venue.

As the sugar from the breakfast muffins and coffee provided was kicking in, the first of the delegates started to enter the hall. Some had heard of us already, others were surprised they hadn’t heard of us already. To keep in touch with our new friends, the organisers had provided us with USB stick sized scanners that allowed us to zap name badges to save contact details, with consent of-course, so off we went to play corporate laser-tag.

I was also fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to present as part of Orbus attending the event. A 20 minutes slot on a special topic. My session was on ‘Achieving Business Analysis Maturity: A Repository-led Approach’. With a full house, and trying not to blind myself with the projector’s light whilst walking-and-talking, I was happy to see many nods of agreement and understanding to much of what I was rambling on about, it was a pleasure to see a lot of the same people visit the Orbus desk after the presentation for a face-to-face chat and exchange contact details.

The event was a success! And is one of many to come as part of the new initiative. Orbus will be aggressively ramping up attendance to events globally, as well as organising our own customer events. We look forward to seeing you there, and please do let us know if you have any suggestions on where we should be next.
