Sustainable Development has been a popular buzzword in government and business circles for decades, but it still might be somewhat surprising to see it mentioned next to Enterprise Architecture. Though the goals of Sustainable Development are certainly laudable, what could it have to do with a business function mostly concerned with digital transformation?

At the moment the answer might be not a lot, but for governments - and businesses- to be able to achieve the goals of sustainable development as put forth by the UN, radical change will be needed. Much of this will be driven by digital change, meaning that finding the right Enterprise Architecture approach and methodology could make a big difference. Already there have been developments in utilizing EA for some government organizations.
