A helpful A-Z glossary listing key Business and IT transformation terms and technical definitions.
Use the search below to begin.
Abstraction is a technique for producing a high-level summarization or generalization of more complex or detailed topics or content.
Term of Abstraction is often used in the context of "level(s) of abstraction", which can also mean a specific focus for analysis based on a consistent and common level of detail.
Architecture typically uses Abstraction in this context to provide a consistent level of definition and understanding. This allows each area of the architecture to support effective communication and decision-making.
It is particularly useful in dealing with large and complex architectures, as it allows relevant issues to be identified before further detail is attempted
