A

Actor

An Actor is a normally used to define a physical or quasi-physical entity, such as a person, organization, or system. An Actor is usually responsible for undertaking role(s) that initiates or interacts with activities.

For example, a customer service representative who responds to queries received from customers.
Actors may be internal or external to an organization, depending on the context of the situation. For example, a materials supplier  would be considered an Actor by a manufacturer looking for specific materials as part of its supply chain activities.

The Actor object is used in various Architectural Artefacts, such as:
• The Organization / Actor catalog - showing which Actors are in which organization; and
• Actor / role matrix - showing the roles undertaken by each Actor.
