Data Architecture

Data Architecture can be defined as the structure and content that describe an organization's types, content and sources of data. It is typically described in layers, using increasing levels of detail and complexity.

However, care needs to be made in distinguishing the difference between Data Architecture and Information Architecture. Typically 'data' represents raw unprocessed facts and figures without any added interpretation or analysis where as 'information' represents analyzed and interpreted data so that it has meaning for the user.
