The information contained is derived from the Axelos ITIL Foundation Handbook and supplemented from the ITIL Service Strategy Lifecycle publication. The document is based on ITIL 2011.

Service Strategy is usually seen as not only the starting or entry point of the overall ITIL service lifecycle, but also the core of the overall ITIL service lifecycle. Within the ITIL service lifecycle, Service Strategy sets the stage for developing the capabilities and services to achieve the desired strategy of the provider of service.
